As we saw in the last blog (Kissing Cousins) the opportunity for meeting your match was constrained by the limitations of transportation and communica-tion, as well no doubt, by religious affiliation and standing in the community.
Thus it would not be surprising if two members of one family married two members of another. And indeed that happened within the Mather family.
Two of Deacon Mather’s daughters married brothers from the Bell family.
It does not appear, however, that these Bells were directly related to Hannah Bell, the first wife of Reverend Moses Mather.
